Hi guys - Have a question about recoil. I realize that recoil is somewhat subjective and that it affects people differently. Maybe someone could offer opinions about how the G39 might feel in comparison to the weapons listed below?

I'm asking because these are the weapons that I have used the most.

    KelTec P-11

    Glock G19

    S & W 642 (.38 spl snub)

    Ruger SP-101 (.357 snub)

Thanks for any help and opinions.

I have a G17 and a G39. The 17 is more of a quick flip, while the 39 is more gradual push. It's still kind of flippy, but not bad. Then again, I put a ported barrel on my G39, and now it flips hardly at all.

Of the pistols you listed, only the G19 has less recoil.

The .45 round (ACP and GAP) are low pressure rounds, so the recoil comes right back down the bore access as a push.

The higher pressure rounds (.40, .357 sig, etc) cause your muzzle to flip up rather than push. You 9mm pistols are similar, but less so.

The Glock 39 (I have about 200 rounds through mine) feels similar to any other .45, meaning that although a bigger boom than the 9mm, the recoil is very easy to manage with proper stance. Its really nice and soft. I love mine for the ability to carry .45 in this baby glock format.

I have these two guns and a G39, I love my G19, easy recoil. The 642 is a great shooting gun, but it can be a handfull until you get used to it. I carry my 39 every day, it 's my fav at the range too!

Thanks for the info. If anyone has actual experience with a P-11 would you say a little more about how the P-11 and G39 compare? Thank you.

    G39 = more push
P11 = slower split time due to inferior grip

I can say the only odd thing I have noticed about my G39, is it has the heaviest trigger of any Glock I have owned. I'm going to have to replace the connector in it, its terrible as is.

    One of my favorites....

And, I agree with Thx-1138, it's a gradual push... I really like it better than the .40's and .45acp's..

Im considering selling my G36 for a G39 or G33, can anyone here compare the recoil between 2 or 3 of those? The wife finds the ACP a bit much and im guessing it gonna be the same for the 33 from what ive read about it being snappy.

I've got a 1911 that recoils a little less than my G37. I think the 37 is a little lighter. The 185 grain federals in the 37 have quite a bit of recoil (not terrible) and as others have said more of a push. I've shot my brothers 357 glock, I think it was the same frame size as my G19. Dont remember the recoil being any different than my G19.

Dont sell your glocks you'll regret it.

A G33 is very snappy. The 39 is much more controlable. I've had all the mini's at some point or another, and the 39 is by far the most comfortable to shoot.
