Well, at least SOME folks will be getting a tax break:

Now, that's just backwards: you can deduct medical cost for sex change but not breast augmentation.

I looked deep inside my Jamaican homophobic / bible beating / brimstone, fire and damnation self to see if I could find even the most remote shred of anything that would make me side with the IRS, and nope, nothing there.

Some people are just wired different (and yes, some simply have too much time on their hands), who am I to stand in the way of some guy who wants to be a girl, or a woman who wants to be a man?

So essentially the tax payers of this nation are subsidizing cosmetic surgeries now?

Breast augmentation, face lifts, tummy tucks, etc are cosmetic surgeries. Gender re-assignment surgery is not.

I disagree, it most definitely is "cosmetic" as it does not alter the persons DNA, it only changes the appearance of the genitalia.

Just goes to show how ridiculous the income tax code is when it's applied to the earnings of individuals. I don't see any reason why every expenditure made by individuals, be it for cosmetic surgery or anything else, should not be deductable from the federal taxable income. That would include all clothing, food, rent/mortgage payments, automobile expenses, entertainment expenses, etc... After all businesses are allowed to deduct such things so there is no reason at all why individuals should not be able to deduct them as well.

I say burn the whole tax code and start over. No real estate tax, no sales tax, no gas guzzler tax, no alcohol tax, no gas tax. Income based only and flat across the board. The guy flipping cheeseburgers should get the same tax rate as the guy living in the mansion.

If she were a prostitute wouldn't that be a business expense?
