I am curious as to what ammo you prefer for training
for the GSSF matches. I am asking specifically for the
    bulk ammo.

AA 147 gr. for factory loads is going to be hard to beat. You just missed free shipping. My #1 choice would be my own ammo.

For practice ammo I'd use what I could find for cheap. For me that would be CCI Blazer.

Atlanta Arms 147's are the finest match ammo you can buy. Extremely accurate with very low recoil.

+1 for the AA 147 ammo. Great accuracy, and minimum recoil.

Whatever ammo I choose (and right now that's my reloads), I shoot the exact same ammo for practice (ANY practice, for any discipline) as I do for the matches.

I thought so. Makes sense, why shoot something different.

I practice with .22LR, maybe I could shoot like Mike if I did use the same ammo for a match, and firearm for practice.

Any more I'm happy to make some noise and hang out with Bama and carry his stuff from stage to stage.

I've used Federal Champion 115gr, Winchester Value Pack 115gr, Wolf 115gr, PMC Bronze 115gr, Speer Lawman 115gr. Due to demonstrated inaccuracy, I no longer use the Winchester Value Pack 115gr; I have no hesitation in recommending any of the others. I thought that the Speer Lawman was a bit peppier than the others, but when recently chrono'ed for our IDPA State match, out of the 5 1/2" barrel of my Beretta 92D it achieved a thoroughly acceptable, but hardly earth-shattering 131 power factor.

    Best, Jon

AA means atlanta Arms. I just took advantage of the free shipping special to try it out.

As crazy as it seams I normally practice with .40 and then compete with a 9mm

for the most part, i have been using 9mm federal american eagle 147g fmj (~$12/box of 50), for uspsa, idpa, gssf, etc. the 147's supposedly have a little less kick than the 115g's but frankly i'm not good enough to tell the difference. the last case i bought from targetsportsusa.com was $240 with free freight.

That stuff is pretty hot so there probably isn't much difference to notice - 1000fps for 147 PF vs. my load (close to AA) about 880fps for 129.36 PF.

I have personally found my glocks shoot most accurately with 124 grain (in reality considering the accuracy requirements for gssf anything will do) but usually end up using whatever 115gr blasting ammo I have on hand and have done fine
