Tanner Foust - this guy is ridiculously good. And everyone knows it.

(He is one of the stars on the American version of Top Gear, and probably one of the best all-around drivers of our time)

Case in point - on Top Gear he was racing a hybrid British/American sportscar worth $330,000. He was drifting at 100 mph and after the 1/2 mile long drag race that he won, he drifted figure 8s around an Audi V10 and a Lamborghini. Basically a controlled slide in between $1,000,000 worth of vehicles parked 15 feet apart from one another.

My question: Obviously he's legit and "the real deal". But who on earth insures this guy? What if he totalled that $330,000 Noble during his 100 MPH drift?

Then they could garnish his wages until it's all paid off.

Yeah he's neat to watch especially in some of those videos where he's competing in his rally type Ford Festiva or whatever it is.

He's the only one on the US show that doesn't annoy the heck out of me.

I think that's a drop in the bucket. He has always been very well funded.

Insurance cost for something like that is nothing compared to paying celebrity salaries for TV shows. Car show doesn't have that expense.

    He is a great driver...

But the American top gear ain't worth a damn by comparison. The guys on the British show have a natural chemistry because of their friendship. The American show seems so contrived.

Please call it Top Gear USA, or "that crappy Top Gear ripoff".

Foust is a good drifter, but he's not that great in actual competition. A lot of the good drift stars are that way. They can slide around and put on a show, but they lack speed... Ken Block comes to mind.

Unless I'm missing something, drifting is really poor driving done rather well. HH

If you like to see Tanner Faust drift, go check out Ken Block on YouTube.

In my younger drinking days, I lied to people at the bar about what I do for a job. One of my careers was stunt driving. I'd tell them I did "Gone In Sixty Seconds", and, "here, give me your car keys. I'll show you."

Nobody ever let me use their car to prove I'm a stunt driver.

I agree. Travis Pastrana also comes to mind. Better showman than competitor.

I guess a Harlem Globetrotter doesn't necessarily make an great NBA star.

    you missed something.

entry speeds, clutch work, left foot braking, all critical precision. have you seen the D1 and formual D courses? very little margin for error while sideways at 90 inches from a concrete wall.
