Which, sand paper like or rubber? Why?

I have the sand paper on my G17, primary my competition gun. Love it.

I suspect the difference is: sand paper for maximum grip, but then it's too rough if you want to carry your gun. Sand paper plays hell with shirts/skin.

Range/competition: sandpaper
primarily carry: rubber

The sand paper grip is fantastic for grip, but not so great for carry. Its literally, well, sandpaper. It will chew through clothes, car seats, etc.

Rubber doesn't grip nearly as well, but probably a better choice for carry.

I have the sandpaper one. I didn't even know there was a rubber one until today.

I've never had an issue with the sandpaper being too rough for IWB carry. But I always wear a shirt between it and my skin.

I agree that sandpaper is the way to go, but for the same price you can get what is called a "Decal Grip" in sandpaper and it doesn't wrap your grip entirely. The die-cut panels are a perfect fit for all the needed areas on a Glock plus a few. Just one more option if the look of the Talon doesn't float your boat the way it doesn't mine.

Love the sandpaper and have it on all my glocks. My skin doesn't seem to mind but it can eat your favorite sweat shirt after some time. I couldn't care less. I like the Talon becuse it wraps all the way around. I don't mind the decal grips but the Talon still feels more solid. You'll have to try both.

+1 on Decal Grips...I do not like the color contrast of the Talon's...decal grips almost look like they were supposed to be on there.

I have the sandpaper on my G19 and the rubber on my G27 and PF9. I like the sandpaper a lot better. I really don't see any real difference with the rubber ones. I think I will order the sandpaper to replace my rubber ones here pretty soon. But to be honest, I haven't shot the rubber grips yet. I'll make my final decision then.

take the Talon grip and before you install them sand the side panels down to your desired liking then install them. that has worked great for my glocks and i carry them in all different holster set ups every day. for me the Talon grips really inspire confidence with the control of the gun they give me reguardless of sweaty or bloody hands.

I have the sand on my 21SF and 30SF and like them very much. Both are carried in a belt holster. My 19 and 23 are RTF2 so they are stock and carried in belt holster. My 36 has the new rubber grips, and so far I like them as well, although as has been said, they are not nearly as aggressive as either the sand or RTF2. However the 36 is always with me on the motorcycle or in the truck, and usually around the farm. The jury is still out for me on the rubber, but so far they have held up well and give good purchase.
