Looking for some input from the GT crew here. I've been on the fence about getting a dog for a while now, and I'm tilting back toward the "seriously considering it" mood. A local rescue has a 5-6 year old, male boxer up for adoption (already neutered and house trained,) and I'm thinking about it, but I don't want to go into this blind, having never known any boxers before. A bit about me, and Max's potential living environment. I own my own home with a fenced back yard, so Max could go out to play in the evening while staying inside during the heat of the TX summer days. I work 40-50 hrs a week M-F, so Max would have to content himself with TV or radio during the day. My neighbors have 3 German Shorthaired Pointers, so Max would have friends around. (He'd also get to visit my Aunt's retired racing greyhound on several weekends a year.) What can y'all with boxer friends/family tell me about the breed? Would it drive him batty leaving him alone for that much time? Would he be better off outside during the day? (I have a covered back porch, so he'd have shade if he wanted it.) I just don't want to pull the trigger on adopting the guy if he's going to hate it. I love dogs too much to make one miserable. Thanks for the info gang.
