I'm in Kommifornia so limited to Gen 3. Even rarer are Glocks in OD which now looks more like a coyote brown/FDE.

Already have a G19 that I've Gucci'd up with slide, RMR and compensator. Also have a P80 compact set up the same way as my G19.

Don't have a need for a G17 as I figured I'd pick up another G19 at some point but the LGS has a G17 in OD.

Pros and cons? I have smallish hands but holding the G17 didn't seem to be an issue. My very first pistol was a G22 back in 1993 when I turned 21 which I stupidly sold (with standard capacity mags in a state that currently limits mags to 10 rounds).

    TIA

Absolutely nothing wrong with any gen3s, just Kalifornia laws are screwed.

Buy the OD Glock. They're more reliable, more accurate, hit harder, and will gain value much like an unmodified, unfired, all matching WWII G.I. 1911.

    ;)

I jest, but I do like OD Gen III's, so I'd buy it.

It will be worth less than you paid, one month after you bought it.

Hold out for the Glock G48, which will be the next G19X platform in OD, and will hold its value for about 9 months.

Alternatively buy a regular G19.3 and just paint it OD with rustoleum Camo paint. it will be worth the same in 2 years as the newer Glocks flood the marketplace.

Similarly, I also bought my first Glock in 1993 (age 24) and it was/is a 22. I still own it. Jersey was a 15 round max state back then, and only just went down to 10.

Since your others are highly modified a stock G17 would be a good complement as a home defense pistol. If you inbfact want a HD pistol.

If your intention is to highly modify another pistol Id probably not.

It's California - buy the G17 while you can still legally buy a gun.

Thanks for all the input. My LGS still had it so I pulled the trigger on it. I’ll still put in the OEM minus (-) connector, extended slide release, and extended mag release. I may get the slide cut for an RMR as I’m a total convert training with it. Now just have to sit and wait the 10 day period before I can pick it up. Thx again!

I got a Glock 17 OD Gen 3 with the Ameriglo Night Sights from Turners. It is a favorite of mine on the range.

That’s the best Glocks ever made right there , I have a LAV 17 and a regular rtf2 19 I made a “Vickers” clone out of it with Wilson sights and parts.

I have (3) Gen3 17’s and I’m not a collector. Wether for competition, home defense or carry the Gen 3 offers the ability to be tuned to your liking.

I have the financial resources to buy a gen 5 , 25 or 19x but find the new barrels limiting those in Overall length because of short throats in the barrels...not so with the model you are looking to buy.

Your color preference is your realized plus, and has prompted the decision.

You can buy a 6” barrel from Glock direct for $169.00 and enjoy another 150 FPS.

    Congrats in advance.

Well picked it up this past Monday after the CA sucky 10 day waiting period. Added the extended slide release, extended mag release, magwell and grip panels. I also did the undercut with a Dremel. Feels good in my hands even though I have relatively small hands. I'm digging it, haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but will in the next few days.

Just seeing this thread and haven't looked at replies.

    BUY IT NOW!

It's likely 100% reliable, the premier factor you cannot you cannot dismiss. It converts to three different calibers. It probably fits your hand as well as it does mine and your accuracy at expected distances is very good, if not excellent.

Oh, the distinct, artistic panache of the Generation 3 OD frames will be a good investment going forward. In addition, owners of these particular models have overwhelmingly found that not only their IQs have suddenly risen 30+ points (on average) but that they've inexplicably become chick magnets.
