Mrs. ateamer is watching old episodes of Tales From the Darkside. The show is horrible! How did it not get cancelled after one episode? I've seen better acting at a fourth grade Christmas pagent, and my cat could write better scripts. It's as bad as the old black-and-white movies where all the women had nasal voices and speech impediments. I never saw this crap before now. Was it actually a popular show?

Very good show and it was never meant to be good acting. Just quick little scary stories written by guest writers. If i remember correctly Dan Ackroyd wrote several of them.

Yes it was horrible but it was some how captivating for you to keep coming back. I found myself looking for episodes on the schedule the other day

See, this show is what we got in the pre-reality show era. Networks still had lots of time to fill, they just did it with low quality scripted shows instead of low quality "unscripted" shows. Of course I liked TotDS. What networks are doing these days is KILLING their syndication/rerun market. Who is gonna want to watch Jersey Shore in 10 years? NO ONE. But I'll watch reruns of Star Trek, Chuck, Fringe, or all sorts of other scripted shows.

If you think Darkside is bad, check out the Outer Limits, Friday the 13th, or Freddy "horror" shows they were making around that time. Darkside was in good company :) Or compare it to the Alien Nation, Street Hawk, Airwolf, Misfits of Science, Werewolf, Automan, Something is Out There, Tales from the Crypt, Tales of the Golden Monkey or any of the other million schlocky, hokey shows from that era.

I always liked Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt. Good fun attempts at horror, with a pretty good episode thrown in every now and then.

Really? The answer to every Airwolf episode (spoilers!) was "Fire Hellfire missile!" and something blows up right at the end of the theme song :)

Kinda like Voltron. Just form Blazing Sword already and get it over with :p

I remember watching that show, and as a kid I liked it.

The acting and writing was pretty horrible on most TV shows back then.

Tales from the Darkside was not a network show - it was a syndication show. I loved it. It was a modern incarnation of the Twilight Zone. Not as good, but it was fun.

Oh man. I remember that one. Sadly, I remember it having better production quality.

I've watched a few episodes online over the past few years, it really has not held up well. The 80s Twilight Zone is way better.

The original TZ from the 60s came and gone before I was on the Earth, but it is my favorite. Crap just starts to stink pretty quickly.

But there are a few gems in the lot, but not many.
