Congrats on your upgrade. As far as registering to a P.O Box? I wouldn't sweat it for a second. Your information is available by a myriad of means to anyone willing to put in a little effort.

Are you sure about that?

So, if someone ike R.B. Riddick listed his residential address on his original license, the residential address would stil be obtainable even after he updated to a PO Box?

If that is the case, I am especially glad that I gave my PO Box as the point of contact from the beginning.
Just verified it. Checked on a friend who recently moved. I was able to go back to his first license in 2001. Actually found his current address and two others since 2001.

The reason is probably historical; so you could send and receive QSL cards. Back in the day, there was a call book publication that listed all the issued callsigns and their addresses. There was even a foreign book available. Like a big telephone directory indexed by call signs.

There are probably easier ways to get your address. A 70' tower and a beam are pretty obvious signs. ULS navigation is a nightmare.

A lot of worrying going on....do you really think that thieves are really targeting HAMS?
OOPS, I just looked "me" up PO BOX :highfive:
Also, it does not show the original date of my license...somewhere in the late 60's!

CW and QRP. The 20-meter band intrigues me.

I'm looking at this kit.

Yes, I built a 20-meter kit I built years ago, put out by a company called A&A Engineering and it was a lot of fun when the band was open - which was basically 24 hours a day back at the time I built it. https://www.eham.net/classifieds/detail/398003
Today, 20 meters is not open as late in the day but is less noisy than 40 meters. QRP work takes patience but it is an absolute blast the first time someone answers your CQ on a transceiver that YOU built.
