Grammostola rosea (of all species) tonight while removing a cricket from his enclosure. I reached down in front of him to retrieve the uneaten bug and the next instant there was a flash of movement, I jerked my hand up as his fangs were coming down. Mild pain and redness. Less than a bee sting really.

Anybody else keep arachnidae? What kinds? How about reptillians? Well, this is a first for me. He used to be my hand pet. Funny. Anyway, woke me up so now I have to write.

Y'all enjoy your critters and be safe. Even a mild mannered hand-pet can strike when you come between it and it's food.

I'm normally a pretty peaceful guy, but if you were to try to grab a snack I had put aside for later, I'd bite you, too!

Now how about a pic? (Of the pet, not you...)
