I have used a program Autorun which shows processes, drivers, codecs a lot of info I don't understand. But I have numerous entries in my drivers and everything running files that are titled with random letters and it states that these files can not be found. The ability to delete them fails. The ability to uncheck them and not have them run is currently being used. But must be at least 6 entries. In the past I have been able to delete similar "files not found" entries. Could use some learned advice.

    What Version of windows?

Are you logged in as administrator or a limited user?

Chances are that it is a registry entry and the permissions on the key have been changed not allowing you to remove it. It really depends on where it is and what its path is.

You could also give Sysinternals Autoruns a try (free):

    Hello Toyman,
Thanks for your response. I am using XP Home SP3. Running as user with full permissions when I try to delete them. It is the Sysgate Autoruns that I'm using. I'll try it as Administrator.
