I spent 10 hours with 100 other LEOs getting trained by our SWAT in Crowd Control, Neutralize an Active Shooter, and Officer Rescue. Yesterday was my first time to see a Pinoy SWAT and he carried a Kimber with Wilson 7 rounders. The rest of operators had their SW 45's and Glock 21's.

One can be surprised as to how many Pinoys are serving in the police and military professions in the US.

There is a US Major-General who is of Filipino origin and I've seen other US Filipino generals who go before the US Congress.

I've seen US Navy Seal documentary where the one of SEAL trainors was definitely a Filipino.

I've not seen a Pinoy SWAT officer yet in the SF Bay area but Pinoy police officers and firemen are quite common around here.

You go to any6 US Navy recruitment office in the SF BAy Area and invariably, the petty officers are Pinoys.

Mga baliw hindi ako SWAT. The training cadre was SWAT. I am too old, too slow and cannot even remember what I had for breakfast. I cannot even make 4 pullups. Every so often, our SWAT provides refresher training sessions in shooting on the move, clearing a series of threats, officer/citizen rescue etc. Street Officers (like me) do not go through rappelings, shooting M4's and MP5's.

Officer Jerry, would you be at liberty to discuss about neutralizing an active shooter? Just a few general pointers from the training. It would be interesting the LAPD SWAT's point of view on this subject. Thanks!

When a person starts firing a weapon or weapons at people without regard for the safety of others and continuous to do so is deemed an "Active Shooter. The person therefore must be neutralized immediately. The pursuit of this individual whether inside a structure or out in an open area is the primary objective of the 1st responding officers and nothing else. If there are downed citizens or officers, the team leader shall contact any available unit to form a rescue team. The primary unit shall follow all leads: gunshots, screams, noise etc then stop the threat.

This is my definition of an Active Shooter.

Jerry ... shouldn't you be giving them lessons on shooting on the move and probably shooting in general??
