I have a couple of low cap (10 round) Glock mags and was told by a friend that Glock will swap them out for high cap mags at no cost. Has anyone sucessfully done this ?

If a GLOCK pistol comes with low-cap mags, it was done because of the laws of where that particular pistol was sold. So the answer is no, GLOCK will not swap-out low-cap mags for standard capacity mags as standard practice.

Glock is also not a charity run for the purpose of providing people with new mags.

There MIGHT be situations where someone from GLOCK decides to be nice and swap out the mags of a pistol that was sent in for repair, that was sold during the AWB, that is going back to a state that has no standard capacity mag restrictions. Or, they may swap mags if they think that the mags are the mechanical reason why the pistol was sent in for repair.

I've never heard of this as well.

Only thing that I heard that is slightly similar is that when you send your Glock in for repair/service, Glock will replace any older generation Glock magazines with the newest generation Glock magazines. But, capacity stays the same (send in a older generation 10 round magazine, get a newer generation 10 round magazine back).

I got my G19 back right after the Ban lifted and we got HCP's here. It had 10 round mags so it was Old New stock. There was some talk at the time about some dealers swapping out the standard capacity mags for 10 rounders, then selling the Standard capacity mags for a profit because they were stuck with a lot of 10 round spares.

Glock mags are cheap! you can get 5 for about $100 and a great holster for $100 or less. Just go bite the bullet and get new mags.

You might want to copyright that. It's, definitely, signature line quality!

Yes, I've heard of it; in fact similar remarks have been posted here before - several different times. Whether or not someone at the factory will do this for you again, I don't know. If Smyrna tech support is anything, it's inconsistent. You've really got nothing to lose. Why don't you just call and ask.

Low capacity mags or standard capacity mags.

What is a high capacity mag? :whistling:

States like Mass., have a 10 round mag limit, so residents there would like to have them.
Or keep them in case you're driving through Gov. Romneys state.

Doubt this because most 10 rounders cost less than standard cap.

It would be so much better if the 15/17 round mags were referred to as standard capacity...

They are aren't they,I mean that is what the gun was designed around.
When I hear the term Hi Capacity I think 30 rounds plus.

A high capacity magazine would be a magazine that holds more rounds than the standard capacity magazine.

But, what is a low capacity, standard capacity or high capacity magazine varies depending on what firearm is being discussed.

    For example...
Glock 17 = 10 round magazine (low capacity) 17 round magazine (standard capacity) 33 round magazine (high capacity)
Glock 19 = 10 round magazine (low capacity) 15 round magazine (standard capacity) 17 round & 33 round magazines (high capacity)
Glock 26 = 10 round magazine (standard capacity) 15 round, 17 round & 33 round magazines (high capacity)

I'd prefer "extended capacity" for anything with greater capacity than than the standard or stock mag but, perhaps a "high capacity" mag could be in reference to a dual drum 100+ round mag?

It is too bad that this situation even exists. The ten-round magazine limits are so wrong.
