Most think of Woods Craft and Fighting Skills which are essential.
    Do you take essential Meds?
Do you have 2 pairs of Eye glasses?
Do you have teeth that needs attention?
Do you have a stock of Rive and Beans, Noodles and Bouillon?
    Fuel Cans?
    Warm clothing?
    Alternative Heat sources?
    2 good pairs of boots?
    Solar charger or Generator?
    Trusted MAG or family support?
    Flash lights, batteries or Lanterns?
What about a decent bicycle or Horse?
Get teeth fixed, Meds filled, Medical check ups to fix problems now.

Please add to this list with suggestians.

Warm clothes and heat sources? I don't need them. I'm in Southeast Texas, ha!
    I need mosquito repellent.

People often forget cash, credit cards, identification, insurance information.

A SHTF situation is often temporary or regional. The stuff above would become important even in a grid down situation that is long term, especially in the beginning.
Imagine getting injuries or your family member gets sick or needs medical care and the medical place is still working under old assumptions.

Grid down could be a tragedy for everything, not just a home without electricity, but literally food transport to grocery stores and other Computerized sourcing.
Gas and fuel transport sources which would effectively shut down transport.
As many know, the Grid is fragile and subject to a Terrorist attack.

Duct tape, tape measure, and a good flathead screwdriver.

I have probably spent more hours of my life hunting one or more of these items than anything else.

Carry Duct tape for a sucking chest wound and zip lock bag if no bullet seals available. Medics tell me that Duct tape sticks the best.
