Surprise police have arrested a 22-year-old woman who allegedly crashed her car into a police cruiser on Friday. Authorities said the woman was driving under the influence of marijuana with two children in the car.

Sgt. Mark Ortega said the police car was parked, blocking traffic with its emergency lights on in a construction zone near 137th Avenue and Waddell Road, when Amanda Buckner drove around traffic, accelerated and struck the officer-occupied cruiser.

Investigators soon discovered marijuana and paraphernalia in the vehicle, along with two unidentified children, born in 2000 and 2007, Ortega said.

Experts determined Buckner was under the influence of marijuana and she was taken into custody along with 32-year-old Curtis Parker, a passenger in the vehicle, according to police. Police said Parker had outstanding warrants.

The officer was treated for minor injuries to his elbow.

Buckner was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on suspicion of DUI, aggravated DUI and endangerment.
