I'm going to be getting a subwoofer pretty soon and probably the best place to put it would be behind my TV (the TV's in a corner). Any idea how far away I should have it from the TV? It has a 12" woofer with a 97 ounce strontium ferrite magnet which looks like this: [IMG]

Without moving anything around, the magnet and the back of the TV would be about 2.5 feet apart.

It seems like 2.5 feet would be enough. However, the only real way to know for sure is the trial and error method.

What kind of TV is it?

Sounds like you will just need to try it and see.

A big CRT like that will definitely be sensitive to the pull from the magnet. Let's just hope 2 1/2'-3' is far enough!

    It will probably be fine.

better safe than sorry, if you get it too close it will ruin the color in your tv, time might fix it, might not. I put a speaker too close to my computer monitor one time. lost the color red for about 2 weeks. good thing it "fixed itself" its a 19 inch monitor.

Maybe I'll try contacting the sub manufacturer. I could move things around, but it'd be tough. It's a little room. :)
