I ordered a Storm Lake conversion barrel (.40>9mm conversion for G23) last Thursday and I sent an email to them yesterday asking if they had a tracking # for me. I got an email this morning saying that they would notify me when my barrel ships.

Does Storm Lake not stock any barrels, or do they make each to order? Can anyone tell me about how long it will be before I have my new range toy. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they know anything.

I got my Storm Lake G27 40-9mm conversion barrel from a third party and it shipped in 72 hours.
I think midway has them for $139 and they usually ship fast too.

When I wanted an extended ported 357 Sig Barrel I had to order directly from Storm Lake.
Plus I added a +30 day Isonite QPQ coating.
The website estimated shipping about 30 days later (last Friday).
No email or status update last Friday night so I emailed.

They responded super fast on Monday.
But said my barrel would be completed sometime this week.
Then sent out for Isonite coating (est 2/3 weeks).
    And finally UPS shipped.
I would receive an Email notification with tracking number at that time (early/mid march?).

So depending on the barrel, it looks like Storm Lake takes about 30 days
    to manufacture some barrels???

Plus it looks like if it's a standard barrel,
you may be able to get a better price and faster shipping from a third party.

There should be an estimated shipping date in the order status online
That date (if you don't opt for the Isonite QPQ) should be pretty close to when it will ship.

    BTW On a happy note,
My Storm Lake G27 40-9mm conversion barrel RULES.
It's more accurate, and ejects better, than the OEM 40.
The thing just drips of quality.
Ran through 200 Speer Duty 124 gr +P rounds flawlessly.
You will be very happy with it.

I logged into my Storm Lake account and the estimated ship date is the 9th of March. Damn! I didn't realize it would take over six weeks to get a barrel. I have had a custom shock setup (Penske) made for my bike in half that time. I was hoping to get my wife on the range before then. Oh well, if the quality is as good as I have read about then I am sure it will be worth the wait. Just more time for me to teach her the basics and build her confidence in weapon handling skills.

    Yup, Yup.
And 9mm shoots soft and accurate from a 40 Glock.
Your wife will appreciate the gun.
    It's well worth the wait.

Is Storm Lake better than Lone Wolf?
I just ordered a Stock Lone Wolf G23 barrel and it works very nicely.

    Never owned a LW.
But I've never heard anything bad about them.
Maybe someone that's owned both can chime in?

Just looking at the two, the Storm Lake looks higher quality to me?
    It costs more too.
    Is it worth it?
    I can't honestly answer that...

    to me it is

I haven't heard anything specific about Lone Wolf barrels being inferior, but from the reviews that I read it seems the quality might be a little better with the Storm Lake. No real evidence on my part, I just went with the company that gave me the "warm and fuzzy" feeling.

Storm Lake may have a slightly tighter chamber. I don't shoot reloads however.

Mine needed polishing, then it's been perfect

    I REALLY LIKE STORM LAKE AND THE OEM GLOCK BARRELS. I HAVE OWNED Lone Wolf and kkm (still do) and I will rank them in the following order;

    OEM---reliability.

STORM LAKE--- reliability and strenghth. Easy to clean. ACCURATE. GREAT customer service.

Lone Wolf--- reliable. Can shoot lead but not reloads. The wolf on the hood is hidious looking.

KKM-- Have purchased 8, threw one in the trash can (feeding issue) after much frustration :upeyes:with KKM customer service. Very accurate and difficult to clean (for stainless).

I much prefer STORM LAKE. They will give LE 10% discounts if you ask:cool:.

I recently ordered a Storm Lake Barrel. AFAIK, they make their barrels when they're ordered, and don't stock an inventory of them.

Prior to ordering, I called and asked how long it'd take before I got the barrel, and was told approximately 10 days.

I placed to order online, and my account on their website said something like 30 days before it'd ship. I was a little annoyed, but really wasn't in a huge hurry anyway.

About 12 or so days after placing the order, the barrel was in my hands.

I think it's true, Storm Lake doesn't stock inventory.
    Third parties do though.
MidwayUSA stocks inventory and prices are better than direct from Storm Lake.
Most barrels appear to be $20 less and ship the same day.
