Today's incident where a left wing nut-job went on a shooting spree in VA targeting Republican congressman is a symptom of a major problem in our country. The Democrat party has become the party of hate, intolerance, and violence. The left is consumed with hate for President Trump and all things that are not socialist in nature. The left wing fake news media is stoking the flames of this hate every chance they get. It is time for Democrats to stand up and denounce this hate and violence that their left wing comrades are spreading. It is time for the news media to start reporting the news factually and stop creating the news in order to further their leftist political agenda. If this hate and intolerance continues then innocent people will likely die. We just can't stand for this crap any longer.

Folks, if you want to continue participating here, this bickering and namecalling needs to stop. If you continue to troll the forum and/or insult others, don't be surprised if you find your access removed. This situation is getting ridiculous. You have been warned.

Here's what's about to happen. I'm NOT going to lock the thread, because it's actually worth discussing IMO and I suspect that some of you would actually like it locked.

What I'm going to do is to delete every swinging post except the OP and this one. Then, I'm going to watch the responses in the 2.0 version and lock out every single poster, one by one, who shows his butt. If that leaves just me and the OP, so be it. Now grow up, people.

IMO, a murderer is an unhinged psychopath whose actions are not those of someone participating in society. Political parties are ways of participating and are never for the plotting of violence. No party member should ever call for or ignore violence done for political reasons. The shooter is sick and not a functioning member of the democratic process.

He is also extremely uncommon - murderous attacks by "Democrats" on Republican political figures is virtually unheard of.

Attacks by the left on freedom of speech, peaceful protests, in response to speakers they do not like, etc are on the rise. This is just another step in the escalation. The left is consumed with hate and growing less rational every day.

These attacks are not part of a legitimate political process, but they have become part of the left playbook.

Note that not all on the left are violent, but it is becoming 'mainstream' for the left as long as the target has been vilified.

In this country, any murderous attack on a political figure is extremely uncommon. So why did you limit your observation to (a) murderous attacks and (b) on political figures? Seems that we should consider the whole series of politically motivated attacks that fall short of murder. Anti-fa, G20 riots, violence which shuts down speakers such as Milo and Coulter,...

This is the truth. It is the Left that has normalized hate and violence... not Trump.

Clearly, the left side of the Democratic Party is inciting violence and the proof is irrefutable.

But the level of vitriol and violent rhetoric against now-President Trump has increased substantially in recent weeks, from comedian Kathy Griffin’s now-famous shock “beheading” photograph to Shakespeare in the Park’s not-at-all-subtle “assassination” of Trump on a stage in New York City’s Central Park.

Unfortunately, Griffin and the director of Julius Caesar are not anomalies in Hollywood; actors, writers, directors, and other celebrities have fantasized about using violence against Trump, his supporters, and other GOP lawmakers for at least the past 18 months.

Below are 15 examples of celebrities who have used pointed, violent rhetoric to attack the president and other Republicans.

Left, right, Columbine, Kinkel, Sandy Hook, Norwegian gunman, Truck mowing people down, today...

Is it the food, the Ozone, the Internet, what?

    Why?

What causes a person to become so enraged that killing is the answer?

    Different things drive different people.
It appears that this individual was so distraught over this election that he felt the need to attempt to take someone's life.
I'm sure all the positive media coverage of Trump isn't to blame.

Because murder is incredibly taboo compared to virtually any sort of street scuffle, rock throwing or body checking. Murderous intent is recognized everywhere as something wholely different from other types of violence, even in law.

Clumping a very public 1st degree murder in with other physical aggression doesn't make any sense. It is personal suicide and reflects a grossly damaged psyche. Virtually no one would ever even consider doing such a thing.

To throw a little balance into the equation, one could spend some time reading the thousands of pre-election posts on this forum about things that should be done to Clinton and Obama.

Many of them are excellent examples of the vitriol you mention.

There's also no shortage of posts in which people talked about the "revolution" that would happen if Clinton HAD been elected.
My guess is the threats of revolution were just as disingenuous as moronic statements by some people who claimed they would leave the country if Trump became POTUS.
An if any of those threatening revolution actually meant it, they must have been describing a revolution where people sit and discuss the issues over coffee. Which would be an unusual activity to call a "revolution".

I do find it odd however, that the people who are called "snowflakes" and a variety of other insulting names here that paint them as want-everything do-nothings are actually taking actions as extreme as these.
It's like living in Backwards Day.

A - The thread is about Hate, not this one murder. The left is consumed by and spouting hate in many forms. This murder is just the most extreme example.

B - I disagree that lumping in the murder makes no sense. A more extreme example, but just another product of hate, intolerance and lies.

I am gonna try to reply to this thread. We'll see how it goes. I am at a loss for reasons NOT to discuss what happened today. Should conservatives and Republicans be upset? Well yeah, a Sanders supporting Trump hating antifa shot a congressman after the media and the left promotes and incites violence.
Hmm, how do you stop the hate? I guess if I gave you what I believe to be a correct answer, I would be showing my buttocks and be locked out. Maybe I need to go back on hiatus (I will say since returning after 6 months, the site runs way better now).

I will give a safe answer and say - you can't.
