Local Aldi store has several varieties of Stollen for the holidays.

Never tried it but I might give in. :)

    I figure Aldi...being a German-owned chain...would carry "the good stuff". ;)

My mom bought a Marzipan Stollen last year. She didnt much care for it, but, YUM!

Having a World Market just a few blocks away can be a bad thing though ;P

Aldi's stollens are very good and usually imported directly from Germany! I like the Marzipan filled ones best myself, but all are good!

My next door neighbor was a German that owned a very good bakery.

Around Christmas time he would come over with Stollen and say, "see if this has enough salt".

Every year it had just enough.:)

Would say they carry the cheap stuff, usually worth the money.

If You ever can get a Stollen hand made from a german bakery: should be even better!

Local German/CentralEuropean deli (Crossroads World Market) carries various stollen, all from Dahli-Kuchen. Sweet and delicious. They also carry great meat products (although this year they didn't get Bobak's bacon - the best in the world - in time for Christmas ;1 ).
