I recently picked up this old girl and the grip is waaaay too slick. It’s also already been cut on around the magwell so I’m thinking this is a good candidate for stippling. Any pointers?

IIRC some very early G19s were cut down g17 frames
That is a Gen 1 G17 Frame there, with early G19 magazine
Serial # Please--- Does the frame match the slide?
Case is made much later BTW

Best way to stipple that thing is to fill the magwell with tannerite then shoot it with a 22. That should give you a really nice grip to hang onto on that Gen1 19.

I believe you have to hand cut in the borders with an exacto knife or similar.
it would be extremely difficult to just solder iron a border.
Map out your border and define it. I would anchor the frame on a somewhat large piece of wood.

I prefer silicon carbide for aggressive grips. I brush on epoxy to anchor it.

I say go for it in a big way… It’s just a plastic gun. Can’t be worth much.

Even if it’s a Gen 1 19 … I see these listed on GB with routine.

Back in the 1970s when IPSC and IPDA was getting started and people wanted "race guns" I saw a lot of mint condition 1911s from WWI that got cut up. Who will think old guns were collectible?
