Is it really worth putting a steel guide rod on your Glock? I have never had a problem with my OEM Glock rod in my G23 for over 10 years and thousands of rounds. Any advantages going with a steel one from the gurus?

It's not worth it. If you are careful when re-installing the guide rod, it will never break. I use factory units in all my Glocks.

The only purpose of the rod is to align the spring.

Worth it to me. All my G's use metal rods. If you're satisfied with OEM, then keep it. BTW, never had a single malf due to metal rods.

Very well worth it! I've seen the plastic ones break. If you are shooting HOT 10mm loads in a G20 for example, it would be in your best interest to install one. All my Glocks have them.

I also use SS guide rodes in all my glocks and no issues to date. I have also seen OEM rods fail under conditions most shooters will never encounter. So either way I think most folks are covered.
