    They played it perfectly !

10mm would have been bad stuff ....

They must must have saw him coming from afar.
I wonder if they attracted him in close and then realized their mistake ?

I think I would have done just what they did since he seemed quite docile until he wasn't. I don't think he really meant any harm. Probably just an elephant hello.

Looked like someone threw an apple or something at one point. They clearly weren't helping matters.

The only good solution is to do as the hippie socialists suggest when facing danger.

    Shelter in place.
    Defend yourself with staplers.

If they'd set him a place at the table I'm sure they would've been fine. He was just grumpy that he wasn't invited.

One thing is for sure, you can't outrun them. I think I would have at least slowly been moving toward the other side of the table and getting closer to inside that house. They are durn lucky a tusk didn't puncture their anatomy.

I remember one morning in Yellowstone, I was cooking bacon at a campground picnic table. Someone called. 'there is a bear behind you'. Sure enough a black bear was about 8 feet or so behind me. I slowly got up and moved to the other side of the table, which was also closer to my car. I figured if the bear started moving closer, I'd throw the pan of bacon on the ground and try to get in the car. Fortunately the bear went away.

It was a setup for the camera, you could see food being tossed to coax the elephant to come on up. You CANNOT BELIEVE stuff on the interwebs!

Idiots had plenty of time to move before he got there. Playing with an African bull elephant can get you dead quick. :shakehead:

I'm no elephant expert, but when the bull started flaring its ears out as it approached, that would be my cue to exit, stage left.

Clearly there was a dinner party and the Peanut Butter was implied. No Peanut Butter offered, not very polite to guests. Lesson to get it right next time.
