Anyone know of any source of statistics on how often electronic equipment (servers, especially) fail due to spikes on power-up or when a UPS transitions back from battery to online power?

This is probably pretty obscure but any help would be appreciated.

i'd check with Schnider Electric, the makers of APC to see if they kept stats like that.

I don't remember encountering an issue like that when I ran a data center with 500 machines, or any of our other larger DC's. we used a mix of apc & leibert units in our centers
