For those of us in California who vacation and travel in other states, states that offer their citizens much more realistic and useful concealed carry laws, I recommend that you take a look at this website http://www.ccwusa.com/site/index.php?&MMN_position=1:1 .

I had a chance to attend this class this past Sunday and found the instructor, Bill, to be knowledgable, upbeat, and entertaining. Before starting to teach this course, he was like many of us, frustrated about California's very limited CCW permits.

I had an opportunity to vacation twice this year in Arizona and it was cool that AZ allows the carrying of a loaded firearm within the vehicle, but I would have liked to have had my GLOCK on my person just because, not because I actually needed it.

Now that I have taken this course, I will now be able to CCW in Arizona and quite a few other states during future vacations or travel.

Another reason why this class would be of value to many here on this board. As of October 1, 2007, Nevada just signed reciprocity with the Utah permit to allow concealed carry in Nevada. In the past, Nevada only accepted a Nevada CCW in their state much like California does not recognize any other state's CCW. Nevada allows non-residents to obtain a permit, but the class and firearms qualification meant at least a full day to obtain. Not convenient for a lot of people especially when family or friends are often in tow on Nevada (Las Vegas) vacations.

Nevada allows 8 other state's CCW

You know, I still have not gotten my Utah card. Florida came really fast, but still waiting for the Utah one.

Just a word of caution about Nevada accepting a Utah permit - to the best of my knowledge, there is no definitive answer yet as to whether or not Nevada will accept a non-resident Utah permit.

Caution noted and I personally will be sure to check before carrying in Nevada but the wording in SB237 does not appear to have limitations on residency of states on the approved list.

NV is honoring non-resident Utah CCW permits.
