Just got back from a trip to the range to run the new SR1911 10mm.

Not optimal weather, about 38 and my hands were cold.

In any event, shot 96 rds, 15 of which were full power Underwood ammo, 155 and 180gr. Recoil is very mild with the Winchester White Box and in no way bothersome with the Underwood. No glitches or malfunctions.

Sights were WAY off at the outset, about 12" low at 10 yds.

Started to get into the rhythm with the gun toward the end and had a good time. It's a keeper. Don

Edited to add that I took one of my Ruger SR9cs along as the CCW gun. Felt like a feather compared to the full size 1911.

Nice report. Im glad to hear the 10mm didnt kill you hand. I have only shot about 6 rounds of 10mm from a g29 and didnt think it was bad at all.

No blisters or raw skin at all. I would say that if I were to run 200-300 heavy loads in a session I might have an issue around where the grip safety starts to turn straight back. Don't think I'll be doing that much in a day anyway. Don

Who knows? Could be partly me but I adjusted the sight and things clustered around the bullseye. Don

    Congrats on the new pistol!

10MM is a hoot to shoot. I've been thinking of another, but my G20 and Delta Elite have so far kept that itch scratched. Think the Ruger is a nice gun and hope you give another report when things warm up. I've become a sissy about shooting in the cold, and being a cheap bashtad, I don't shoot very much with autoloaders when the snow swallows up the brass.

I'm sure that there will be news reports shortly about where the fallout is blowing.

Everyone knows that 10mms vaporize anything hit, have a blinding nuclear flash, and produce a mushroom cloud downrange.

    :)

    Nice range review.

    But...

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!!!!! :)

I saw the news reported it as a giant meteor hitting earth, but they aren't sure because there are no pics!

This 1911, like the Springfield Armory XD(M) 5.25 I had briefly, really flings the brass. Regardless of whether it is the mild Winchester or the hot Underwood both end up in approximately the same place and they come out at about a 135 degree angle from the muzzle.

I think it's an indication of a well tuned gun when they land in the same general area and it did that.

So I recovered most of the brass, fired in another area that was overgrown and probably missed a few there. Don

About 25 years ago I went to a local range to shop for a new gat. The range I went to had all of the guns I was interested in as rentals so I grabbed one copy of each, and a few that looked cool (DE44mag) just for fun and one of the "fun" guns was a Colt Delta Elite that I grabbed because I'd never shot anything chambered in 10mm. Big mistake. I left the range without a new gun because I fell head over heels for the Delta and it was out of my price range. To this day a 1911 in 10mm is one of my "grail guns". Not just any 10mm 1911 tho, 10mm, all stainless, commander length, bob tail. So far, that limits me to a DW Cbob, and they're a little to $$$ for my blood. C'mon Ruger, do a brother a solid and make my gun. Or, at least make me an all SS 10mm commander and I can have a smith do the rest. ;)

I'm always very pleased when a new semi auto has no malfunctions right out of the gate. So many factors that can contribute to a problem both from the manufacturer's work or a bad grip or limp wristing from the shooter. Don
