AT the top of this forum is a sticky about protecting your computer from spyware and so forth. In accordance itht he advice found in said sticky I downloaded and installed "Spyware Guard".

I am having a very frequent (VERY)and bothersome problem now.

Spyware guard keeps popping up and telling me that "an attempt to change internet explorer settings has been detected. Warning! Your IE search page has been changed from (it is is blank here) to www.isearch..."

I have never heard of Isearch before and I dam sure don't want to have anything to do with them. What is a "search page" I did not know that IE explorere had a "searhc page".

What is a search page and how do I change it and lock it down?

PS, please help soon as it is doing this A LOT!! and OFTEN!!

    Congratulations!!

    You have been hijacked.

SpywareGuard had nothing to do with that, though...only people who are living in the 90's, still running Internet Exploiter with its chaqrming and delightful ActiveX Controls have this problem.

Step One: Download and install Spybot S&D 1.3, Mozilla Firefox, Hijack This!, and Ad-AwareSE. Install and update them.

Step Two: Run HJT (DELETE NOTHING!) and post the log file here.

Step Three: Run Spybot, then AAW. Delete all the critical bugs they find.

Step Four: Reboot and repeat Step #3.

By this time you should have a response from myself or one of the other gurus who can decipher that HJT log file for you, and tell you what to delete from it. Until then, do not do anything with it but saving the logfile.

Then for Step Five you open IE for the last time, click File and Export the Favorites list to the Desktop. Open Firefox, click Bookmarks> Manage Bookmarks> Tools> Import and bring your IE favorites to Mozilla. That simple.

Step Six: Open IE if you are bored and want some PC repair practice... ;Q :( ;Q

    Good luck.

    GeT and use Ccleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com/
It found over 500 items to delete after I had finished running AdAware and Spybot. Nice program.

Soujurn I think ccleaner is a bit overkill for spyware but man it is a nice tool. Thanks for that link I played with it yesterday and REally liked it..
