I heard that Springfield Armory doesn't make this model any more.
Would this be a good 1911?
Or how about a RIA Compact and save some money.

It would be hard to choose one over the other. I own both and I would rate them about the same.

The RIA "Novak" sight cuts are slightly different (deeper) than standard.
The Springfield front sight is not a Standard "Novak" cut, but there are sights available.
so if you plan on swapping sights, this may be a factor for you.

The RIA is a great value for the cash, but I would also go SA.

My new Sprinfield Armory GI Micro Compact that is USA made will hopfully be at home this Friday.
I couldn't resist this 1911. And since it was made in the USA at the IL plant. Plus they don't make these anymore.

Man this is one sweet 1911. It has Novak night sights and is bad a** for a GI Micro Compact in OD Green. This one I will keep for ever.
