I just purchased one new from a local shop. I completely disassembled it when I got home and found the hole on the left side where the thumb safety goes in is actually oblong. I have a few Springfields, a handfull of Kimbers and even an STI...this is the first time I have seen this issue. I am waiting on the factory to get back to me regarding the pictures I sent.

Have any of you seen this before??

Why didn't you show us the picture?

Are you talking about the hole the safety shaft goes through or the one the safety lug reaches through into the action to block the sear?

The picture is blurry and apparently too large to attach. The hole where the shaft goes through the frame and thumb safety.

So you sent blurry pics to Springfield? Otherwise, resizing is easy.

How much play was there in the safety?

That is correct. I sent it back to Springfield. I have confidence they will make it right. I just posted to see if anyone had run across the same issue.
