    Hello

I have been thinking of getting an EMP.
The question I was pondering is how does the Alum frame hold up if I should go with the 9mm I guess that is my only frame option? I have always been partial to steel or stainless.:dunno:

After research and comments from the knowledgeable people on this forum, I have no doubt the aluminum frame will be just fine. As it was pointed out to me, the EMP was built from the ground up specifically for the 9 and 40, plus the lifetime warranty from Springfield. I found another excellent forum on the EMP on the 1911forum website. Google it then look for the Springfield Armory forum. At the top of the page will be a link on comments from EMP owners. I'm picking mine up today...

The EMP seems to be doing very well.

The EMP is such a good little gun. I have shot both 9 and 40 and personally would only buy a 9mm. I love the 40 round but it is just super snappy out of the EMP

I think you will run out of money or out of wrist before you can destroy a modern day aluminum frame.

    Mine has been excellent!

I have the 9mm version and have absolutely no worries over the frame's longevity.

What happened to the EMP in .45 GAP? I always thought that was the perfect ctg. for this model. :dunno:

That would be the Springfield Defender, which is what the EMP was designed from. It was scrapped because the issue with the frame reliability. I believe they were using an alloy frame with the GAP.

I could be wrong but I'm sure the EMP was chambered in GAP for a little while.

might have been, but i've only seen the EMP as a 9mm & .40S&W.

here's info from when the EMP was released, so maybe there was a .45 GAP

That's why the EMP in .40 cal. has a steel frame.

I have several times opined that a steel framed EMP, chambered in GAP, and equipped with a 4" bull barreled top end, would be the ultimate ccw for my tastes. I'd want a Wilson Combat round butt MSH, 25lpi checkering on both frontstrap and MSH, 40lpi horizontal serration on the rear of the slide, 30lpi serration on the top of the slide, 10-8 rear sight and gold bead front, high undercut triggerguard, flush-mod on all mags, and a Birdsong Black T finish throughout... ahh, that would be sweet! Not that I've thought about it much or anything...:whistling:

edit: I'd gladly substitute Roger's golf ball treatment for all the above texturing (except top of slide).

I've had the EMP 40 for about 8 months now and it has been very reliable. It's handled all ammo I've put through itIt shoots much better than I can. I had a Colt night defender in 45 and I couldn't tell a difference in the recoil. If you get the chance to get one I really don't think you'll be disaappointed.

I love my EMP9. It's exquisite piece of firearm art and an awesome shooter.
