The following link comes from the blog of Mississippi Clarion-Ledger sports columnist Rick Cleveland, who says Brett Favre's agent, Bus Cook, sent Cleveland these photos of a battered Favre after the Vikings' loss to New Orleans in the NFC championship game.
Favre was hurried and hit a number of times by the Saints, who beat Minnesota 31-28 in overtime on Jan. 24. Some of those hits resulted in fines against New Orleans.

    Run, Brett, run... yeah, right

So, I was talking to Bus Cook, sports agent of the stars, today about one of his clients, Antonio Johnson, the starting defensive tackle for the Indianapolis Colts. And I asked Bus about the health of his most famous client Brett Favre.

"Beat up," Bus answered. "You should see the photos of his ankle and his hamstring the day after the game."

I said I'd like to do just that. Cook emailed them. Brace yourself. For all those who have criticized Favre for throwing instead of running on that last play against the Saints, check out Brett's left ankle and his right hamstring.

That he even finished the game is testament to why he is football's all-time iron man, the toughest football player I've ever seen.

    The ankle:

Now I ask you: How many guys would have played with that?

If they were making what Favre makes, probably all of them.

    Yep, it's rough alright.

    It's football man.

Put skirts on them if it's too hard. They play because they like it, and make a ton of money while doing it.

I'm sure that after seeing those pictures, the NFL will change the rules next year and touching the QB in any way will result in a 15 yard penalty. And you will have to count to 5 Mississippi before being allowed to rush the QB.

I bet that if you check the locker room of every team on the Monday after a game you will find more then a few players that look the same ...

I seem to recall Jack Youngblood playing in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XIV with a broken leg.

The offensive line ought to be ashamed of themselves for such lousy blocking.

It wasn't always lousy blocking it was the hits after he got rid of the ball. Some were cheap shots but they hit him on almost every other play. Refs were turning a blind eye to it. The NFL even admited they blow a call that should have been roughing the passer.

I highly doubt they were turning a blind eye to it. If you think the refs aren't going to protect Favre like procelain glass, you're watching some other NFL.

Was that call on Favre blown? Probably. They lost that game for a lot of reasons other than that. Turning the ball over 5x to start with. The Refs didn't cause that.

I had similar bruising after many games while playing beer league ice hockey. Football, hockey, rugby, etc. aren't for sissies.

They were probably just happy it was him and not them that got beat up.

    Otherwise, I agree.

Hey Mr. Viking lineman, sorry you are not in the Superbowl? Well, it's as much your fault as anyone.

It's thuggish when a team deliberately tries to hurt the opposing QB though. I hope the Colts line does better Sunday.

Thats the game of football, everyone knows its a rough sport. I'm not a football guru, but as a defensive lineman your job is to hit the QB so he either drops the ball, or throws a bad pass. Had it not been Favre as qb nobody would be saying anything about this.

You have to wonder though how many of those turnovers were caused because he was rushing. I know the one handoff probably was. It has to have an effect because Favre is not the first QB they went after like that.

We'll see how it goes Sunday when Peyton Manning is the one they are trying to put out of the game. A guy from Indiana might have a different opinion when the Colts QB is being carried off the field. You can bet they will go after Manning like they did Favre.

Guts and toughness. He is one tough dude, but we already knew that. Even his haters should be able to respect that.
