Our GSD is approaching a little over 16 wks old. I took him for his last set of booster shots and the vet said I should be thinking about getting him nootered (sp?) or not. I don't think breeding him is something we will be getting into.

if you aren't planning on breeding, absolutely spay/neuter your dog.

it is beneficial in countless ways.

The question I'd address is not IF, but WHEN.

Some people insist you should wait until the male has learned to lift his leg; others say to do it as soon as the vet will do so.

I am of the leglifting school for all but the most aggressive breeds. Neuter them at birth, says I.

For female dogs, it doesn't seem to matter as much. Just don't anyone buy into that "Let her have one litter" BS or I'll sic your own dawg on ya! :rollsmiley:
