For those not inclined to click the link:

1. Ravonsborg knew he hit something. Thought it was a deer.

2. He called and waited for the police at the scene. He and the deputy looked for the deer he thought he'd hit and neither saw the body in the dark.

3. He came back when it was daylight and found the body.

4. He denied drinking and has provided witnesses from the dinner he was at to prove it.

Seems to be nothing to see here, folks.

I don’t know guys...... I’ve hit f’n deer at night and l only new it was a deer because i saw the bastiage run into the side of the vehicle(s)..... Man thud ..... deer thud? I know only because I saw it.
There was a similar death in Bensalem PA a few years ago..... the body was knocked into the bushes and was not found until the next morning.
Can’t tell you if the driver was impaired but the pedestrian certainly was.
I’m going to stand by and watch and see how this works out

This all sounds like the plot to the first episode of "Line Of Duty" where the possibly drunk driver thought she hit a dog, but it turned out to be her own accountant who became aware of her money laundering.

I hit a deer that jumped over a 6 foot fence right into my grill. It was pitch black. I got out and looked for it. After I got back in my car I realized that I could have been killed very easily.

I drew no firm conclusion. I simply don't believe you can hit a person with a car and not know it. I've hit plenty of animals, and not one has gone unnoticed.

Me neither Brother, didn't mean to pick at you, but it seems many here are just soooooo sure that they know what happened. Except that they don't.

I don't know this guy, maybe he was getting blown while main lining heroin as he watched porn on his phone at 100 mph... but the info presented (if even accurate) doesn't reveal anything more than:

Politician was driving, hit something, called the cops, and later it was determined that he'd apparently hit a person. Lots of unanswered questions.

Hence waiting for the investigation results seem a logical thing to do.

You're still a lazy parasite...
Sleep well
I guess I’m a lazy parasite too. After all I’m on duty right now and going to go to bed. I did get an hour nap today after lunch. I get paid to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, play with cool toys, all on your tax $$$.

You need to work some more and generate some of that wealth you’re bragging about. I have a couple of EMS conferences I want to attend next year. You’ll need to pay for my flight, hotel, food, rental car, and of course my salary and benefits. Work hard!

So was to lazy to stop and get out and look, sounds like drunk or distracted driving to me
If you did not see it, just heard it and the car is driving okay, it's not a big worry. In Wyoming, I have hit a deer, just got out to see if the truck had damage looked in the direction of the deer. I could not see it with the anemic 2 D cell flashlight that night. I did not go back the ten or twelve miles, in the morning so no idea about the deer. I had to unload the truck.
Surprised he even called.

I have a cousin who was on her way home from a night out and ran over a guy.

She was 3 months pregnant, so not being able to drink, she was the DD for a group of friends who were out partying.

The guy she hit was a head case, on a couple of different anti-psychotic meds who had been drinking at a party in the country. Somehow, he got mad at someone and decided to leave the party on foot.

He somehow ended up laying across the northbound lane of hwy 130 at 2:00 in the morning passed out. By the time she saw something in the road, she couldn't stop, and there was a car coming southbound in the other lane, and a big ditch on the right, so she couldn't swerve. Killed him dead.

Back on topic, perhaps he thought he hit Bigfoot. Not wanting to be thought crazy, he called in and said he hit a deer. He got out and looked, no Bigfoot, we all know Bigfoot has survived many car strikes. The police came out and looked and saw no deer or corpses. Many deer survive car strikes, at least enough to go off and die someplace not obvious. What else should have been done?

Sort of sounds like the hit and run by Amy Senser, the alcoholic wife of former Vikings TE Joe Senser. Play bumper pool with a human, drive home, park in the garage, let the alcohol wear off, then call the police.

If that's the car the AG was driving, that was a serious impact. The windshield is caved in near the A pillar.

From 1st article; "He said he realized he killed a man only after returning to the site the next morning."

That sounds very, very bad. If that is the AG's car, that was a serious enough of an impact that anyone in their right mind would stop and call a tow-truck and their insurance company.

Of course, it may not be the AG's car.

I'm confused on the reports about this. Did the AG stop and dial 911 right when it happened? Or did he go home, and then dial 911?

He called 911 and an officer came out. They both looked. The officer took him to his own home o let him borrow his personal car to get home. Had the officer thought he was drunk, do you think he would have let the AG borrow his personal car? This is SD, do you think there are tow trucks sitting on every corner, or that a corner was even nearby?
