Tomorrow I pick up my firearm from "evidence" storage. I hope she hasn't gained any weight or been messing around during our separation. I'll have to pick up some extra lube in the morning. :embarassed:

Are you from KC? If so I know the back story. I know someone who's G23 has been in evidence for a long time.

I was the victim of aggrev robbery attempt. It was more of an ambush (3 to 1). I fired on gunman out of self defense.

And the Cops took your gun? On what grounds?

ETA: Glad you got your gun back.

I would assume the obvious. Evidence.

Evidence of what? That you defended yourself?

I ask because late last year, a friend of mine shot and killed a guy that kicked in his front door and they never took his gun.

Consider the possibilities. Maybe the next day it starts to become apparent that he wasn't robbed at all, but rather was the aggressor himself. They go to collect the gun for evidence and he's 'lost' it. Massive police failure. Better to take it for the mean time and return it when there's no doubt it was a 'good shoot'.

Simply procedure until the case clears. I know that this varies between different counties.

    Exactly.

By the way, this was the defense's claim against me; that for no reason I shot the gunman (his gun was MIA). They tried to spin the vigilante theme on me. When you have really stupid criminals whose stories make no sense, their credibility loses steam quickly.

You know when I read this (while listening to news) I thought it was"M1A" and thought "its a good thing he didn't shoot you at contact range with that" Then I reread.
Glad you got it back, and it was not in NY where they would rent them to criminals.....

BTW I don't mind them taking gun used. what I can't like is when they take ALL a person's guns. Letting family of attacker know they are defenseless.

In some ways yes. In other ways, "it" leaves its traces behind in the form of that second glance.

Glad you're getting it back, that's one of the reasons I picked up an identical gun to my EDC. If I have to use it, I have another just like it.

+1...always a good idea to have a backup for the EDC. If it isn't identical...it should at least be very similar.

Day or two later I purchased another Glock 23. After learning that the gun man was a gang member, I beefed up security at home.

One of the positives that has come from this is the opportunity for me to share my story and give a brief presentation for CHL applicants.
