I have a premonition that my time is coming to an end.
If you want to sing out, sing out.
You can’t always get what you want.
Titties and Beer
Garth doesn’t let his music on YouTube. But I always think of this one too. Did a funeral for a young soldier when I was active duty and was standing guard over the body before the service and his family had the piano riff of this song playing over and over as people came in for the service.
I have since decided to be cremated with no service, but I used to tell my wife to play Dark Side of the Moon at my funeral, minus Money. I smoked a lot of weed back then though.
Sound of Silence is my choice
I hate Money too.
I don't hate it, just doesn't really fit with the rest of the album. It was the "single".
Of course Great Gig in The Sky is the ultimate funeral song.
This song was played at one of my best friend's funeral who died way too young. It was the perfect song for my friend.
A few months later I had the lyrics in my billfold when I wrecked my motorcycle while chasing the next experience. It almost killed me. It took 8 weeks of ICU and critical rehab and about 3 years of more operations to repair me.
The lyrics are poignant. I lived them for 55 years, then life changed and I've been forced to slow down.
"I owned every second
That this world could give
I saw so many places
And things that I did
With every broken bone
I swear I lived"
Spirit in the Sky, by Norman Greenbaum, as they're carrying me out.
My choice would be to have several singles including songs by Pink Floyd, Eric, Carlos, The Stones, Beatles etc. But if I chose one song, maybe either:
But I like this song and the first line: "Welcome to your life, there's no turning back"
