    I had NO idea of the lightning happening, but it makes sense... thinking about all the energy being released.....

    One major cause of the lightning is the ash cloud as particles of ash bang into each other generating static electricity.

    Kind of unbelievable the amount of lightning generated.

    Not to ignore the impact on the people caused by this catastrophe, but, that is some rare, magnificent natural art show.

    I've read that a big part of the reason America decided to leave the area was due to the devastation Mt. Pinatubo spewed on Clark AFB and Subic Bay.

    A friend went to see an eruption in Costa Rica. He was prepared for the force felt through the air but the concussions coming straight out of the ground caught him off guard.
