as the few peoples who have read my posts around here know, i'm a German Shepherd fan. Big time.

my little puppy <--- there is awesome, but a handful once in a while. nothing major.

these people (relatives of a friend) rescued a GSD day before she was to be put down. can't keep her, but couldn't see her die kinda thing.

6 mo. old female with all her shots.

pros: give puppy good home, friend for my dog, hopefully will tire each other out, they claim she is crate/potty trained, basic obedience, etc. and i LOVE GSDs!

cons: my house is TINY, and one dog can be enough at times. twice as much hair, poop, etc.

is it much harder to take care of two dogs than one?

talk me into or out of it! ;f

    Keep her :)

    Cons:
    Possible vet bills for injury/sickness
    Vaccinations/routine care

    Pros:
The satisfaction you will get from "saving her" again (PRICELESS!)
Your GSD gets companionship while you are away
Two dogs barking is more intimidating than one for burglers
Not much more work to care for two than one
    More puppy dog kisses
Two snuggle buddies to root you out of your own bed...

    Do IT Already!

Me personally, I would do it. I made the mistake of not adopting a wonderful 2nd puppy!

I would rather do it and make a mistake than not do it and regret it.

    What are your hangups?

    damn girl!

i posted my hangups already! ;0

i'm leaning towards a sit down with the people ;) ...my only short term hangups is not having the money to have her spayed and microchipped for a while...

if her and Reagan get along, it may be a go ;)

As a voice of reason I will say that too many pets in a house can make the house unbearable. Dogs will do what dogs do. They will play and tear things up. They will smell and get hair everywhere.

This is my observation as my household has three dogs that live indoors (two are small Jack Russell Terriers and one is a medium-to-small sized mutt).

We love the dogs, but it makes the house less "comfy".

I didn't want to sound too harsh with the post above. If you save the dog that would be awesome, but don't fool yourself into thinking that it will won't be much harder than having one dog. Twice the dog = twice the clean-up.

I am a dog lover, and I always have been. We started off with the one dog (the little Brown fellow in the picture). We wanted to get him a mate (literally), so we got the little black, petite female (they had adorable puppies). However, having two dogs in the house was more of a hassle. They have almost run the carpet bare. Then we were in the situation you're in now with the mutt, so we saved her. She is a great dog, but having three dogs in the house can be miserable. Mind you, I'm talking about two really little dogs, and one medium dog.

If you do save her great, but beware of the hard times to come. And yes, there will be great times as well.

My thoughts exactly!! Having my 2nd cat is not much more work and it is alot livlier around here to boot!!! Having a 2nd cat is not really too much more expensive either!!! There is however twice the pee and poop clumps to scoop in their 2 boxes every day.

Get her!! You will be glad you did......

Reagan will be glad to have a sibling!! I promise you!!

Post pics of them both when you can!!

    I know you are gonna do this!!!!! ;f ;a ;f ;a

:) I live in a small house with two dogs and a cat. The big considerations are proper daily exercise and, of course, the annual vet bills. High quality kibble (Science Diet) doesn't add that much; but, the double vet bills have a way of sneaking up on you. I walk both of my dogs at the same time; so, I don't really see a problem there. (Except when it's raining!) ;f

If you travel a lot, there will be double boarding expense - perhaps, reduced by sharing a single run. If you rent, you could have a problem - especially if you move without purchasing your next home. Then again you may, also, have to ask whomever hangs around your place for a second opinion.

Very nice looking dog; I wish her well. ;)
