Boiled crawfish today per the cajun tradition. At 10lbs, extra spicy. Chased it with 6 cold Strawberry Abita beers. Followed with homemade banana pudding. I'm swole up like a pregnant woman and need a nap but we rented a waterslide for the kids and I have to be outside in the sun with them.

    I just wanna nap.............

15 people inbound for Easter Sunday. More work to do......

I never had the strawberry. I like Abita's Purple Haze from time to time, though.

Store only had purple haze in the can left when I got there.

    Strawberry is seasonal.

I flew the Gulf from Lousiana for years and only had crawfish one time. Now that's just a crime.

Hey, certifiedfunds, what's the price on crawdads down there? Up here in Shreveport-Bossier, they are running close to $5 per lb.

I've paid $6 lb boiled in a restaurant recently. I dunno the price of these as someone else paid for them live and I boiled them. I do know we were booked for 2 sacks and only got 1. The weather played hell with them apparently. Tried to get crabs (somebody quote that out of context) and none to be found due to weather.

I was up in Shreveport on Tuesday, BTW. LSU medical center and some private facilities.

kids just talked me into going down the waterslide

After the kids go to bed and the likker starts flowing this could be fun for the adults.

That's even better than the time a local meat shop rejected 50 pounds of Alaskan king crab legs. Turns out they were perfectly good. By the end the dog was getting crab meat for a treat.

But I think it was the 2 or 3 pounds of melted butter that really did the damage.

I've drank my share out of cans, I promise.

I'm not a beer snob but something like purple haze needs glass for my taste buds. Today was a glass kind of day.

BTW, the strawberry was good! I can only drink so much of that fruity beer though but its a nice treat from time to time.
