I am so glad I read this post. I have been lusting after one of these scopes for a while but depending on which gun store know-nothing I talk to, the opinion differs on whether it would work on a Socom.
I will order one ASAP. Just two questions
What is the eye relief?
What rings are you using?

It's the FX-II 2.5 X 28mm Scout scope. Off hand I cannot tell you what the eye relief is. The Leupold model number is 58810. You might be able to find it on their webpage. I got the Leupold QRW Low rings. The are quick release and mount the scope nice and low. That model number is 49853. I hope it helps you.
Good Luck, if you decide on this scope you won't be disappointed.
I presently am using an Aimpoint ML-2 and at 50 yds i can hit the target but not much else. At 100 yds forget it. I am ordering this by Monday! Dang these old eyes.
1 question: how loud is your socom 16 compared to a 9mm, 5.56, and/or any other caliber? I would like to get one but I feel that it would be too loud for my preference. And also, the muzzle brake would adversely affect the sound but how much kick does it have without the muzzle brake. If anyone could answer this, it would be much appreciated.

Loud is loud. Over a point it doesn't really matter IMO. Especially if you use hearing protection. The muzzle break is very effective in keeping the muzzle down for follow up shots. My step son, who is 13, and my wife both shoot the rifle effectively without any complaints about the kick.
Finally, yes it is loud. Nice muzzle flash in low light too.

My pleasure. A man should have the right optics on his battle rifle. The guys at River City Gun exhange are the best. I am lucky to have them only a few blocks away. Also, check out www.m14forum.com the are great too.

When you ask a question on a forum you are going to get someone's opinion. If that is not good enough for you than go buy one and find out for yourself. Otherwise, start your own thread with your questions and stop trying to hijack someone elses.
Also, who said anything about "double ear protection"? :shakehead:
Here's my M1A loaded synthetic stock & carbon barrel with Bushnell 6-24x40 scope on 3rd generation mount, Harris bipod with factory installed QD stud lounging by the pool.

got my scope and rings. all i can say is SWEEEET! sighted it in at 50yds and from the bench off bags i could keep all 50 rounds (5-10 round mags) in a 5" circle as fast as i could pull the trigger once the gun came back on target. sure beats the aimpoint red-dot!

Nice Pieces Mobeebo and Hokie! Good to know my neighbors are so well armed! Here is my newest addition, but its already been painted desert camo. Thanks for the info about the Leupold. My Aimpoint is almost worthless on this rifle.
