First time you saw her? When you first met? First date? After how many dates?

Me being nosy again it's what I do.

Didn’t like each other on first date.
Took six months before our second date.
    Been together 22 years now!

I don’t believe in “the one.” Like anything worth having, it takes hard work and sacrifice on both people’s part.

If you don’t have two people both committed to working at making things better, it won’t happen.

First date. I was single, with three bedrooms, a bathroom and two car garage with two cars and uncashed paychecks in my pocket. Marriage was the furthest thing from my mind the night I met her on patrol. Had a date the next night, gave her the ring nine months later.

    We're married 34 years.

She was the first and only woman I made a date with in uniform.

After about a year of seeing each other, but 38 years later I discovered I had been mistaken the whole time.

Almost the same here. I met her at a mutual friends party. I made fun of her laugh and she got mad. She kept trying to talk to me and ignored her. Two days later I get a call from our friend saying to call her, she wanted to talk to me. I didn’t call her and one day she showed up at my station. We’ve been together ever since.

Sometimes people slowly grow apart. But it doesn't mean you wasted 38 years.
    I'm very sorry.

We knew each other before we were dating. She was with some other sleaze guy. I knew. I guess she didn’t. But I was persistent and she finally saw him for what he was.

13 years of marriage for us.

First date. She turned me down multiple times. So I asked her sister out. That did it, she went out with me the next time I asked. Been married 38 years.

Flew to Cincinnati to attend the wedding of a friend. I met the future Mrs. MAG40 on the dance floor of the Netherlands Hotel. The following afternoon I flew to Washington, D.C. where I met a long-time friend for dinner. Told him I met the girl I was going to marry.

After a week of meetings in D.C., I flew home, broke up with my girlfriend, and the next day took my future bride on our first date. Ten months later we were engaged; eight months later we were married.

No, met on blind date. Haven't been apart for more than a couple of days since, 44 years now.

So many years have passed, I cant say for sure, but it was early in the relationship.
We still proceeded with caution and even shacked up for a year to test the waters.
That was 38 years ago and she hasn’t shot me yet.

the true test was in 2011 when our house burned down and we spent 8 months in an RV while rebuilding.
8 months and not a single therapy session needed!

The first time I laid eyes on her.
I was going through a divorce and called a buddy who was single in hopes of having some company with whom I could drown my sorrows. Only he had a date, the first one in 5 years.
A couple weeks later, he invited me over to his new friend's house for dinner. She met me at the door and I was floored. Love at first sight. By the end of the evening, we had already bonded as friends. I was temporarily staying with my mom while hunting for an apartment and when I got home that night, mom asked me what I thought of my friend's new girlfriend.
"If he doesn't marry her, I will," I said.
We stayed friends for years as we got involved with other people. Finally, about tens years after we met, we had lunch one day, both of us newly divorced (again, in my case) and she was lamenting the concept of ever dating again.
And so I made a suggestion: "Why don't we get together?"
I honestly think she'd never considered it, even though we were close buddies. She thought about it, smiled and said, "Okay. Let's let the dust settle a little bit and we'll go out."
    We did.
We dated for about 5 years and got married a decade ago. Our backgrounds are pretty different and I'm an independent cuss to live with, but we've worked it out. She has three kids. I had none, but all have become like kids to me. I'm not the "dad type". I am the "good buddy type", though, and they like that aspect of me, I think. As I kiddingly told a friend, "I never had to change their diapers. By the time I came along, I could take them out for drinks."
And my wife even adjusted to me owning and carrying guns.
    I love her.
