Got a pea soup simmering on the stove now...lots of ham, and I put potatoes and carrots in mine. Picked up some Pillsbury "Grands" flakey biscuits to go with it tonight.
Bad thing is it's a yuuuuge batch, so I'll be pooping green for a week.

...thought about you last week, in a purely platonic way. :) Thought you might be on a 3-4 month hunger strike!

Broccoli salad w. miso dressing for me (rice, sweet peppers, Brussels sprouts, olives, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, broccoli, of course...heavy garlic in the miso-paste dressing...great macros and micros).

Tasted better than my plating tonight. :)

Good night tonight. Business dinner at Abe and Louie's.

Seafood platter appetizer, lobster, oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters, shrimp, etc
My dinner was a thick cut of prime rib rare with horseradish sauce.
    Caymus 2017 Cab wine.
    Espresso to close it out..

Then off to the cigar club for cigars. I had an ISOM Cohiba, gave an ISOM Monte Cristo to a buddy and a Padilla Miami and a Monte Cristo to another couple of friends. Couple of Balvinie Cask scotch drinks with the cigars.

Good friends, good meal, good drink and good cigars... Yeah, I'm content. :D
    I'm a very lucky guy.

(although in less than 5 hours my day starts again)

Well I'm having "Cream Tuna On Toast", it's a mid-western kinda thing. I really like it, and as my mom used to say, "It Sticks To Your Ribs". Sayonara.

As I was taking the picture, I thought to myself, "Dang, garlic toast would have been good with this!" But I was too hungry to wait. It was pretty darned tasty.

Yes, sir...roasted chickpeas (garbanzo beans). I buy dehydrated, soak them overnight, cook a big batch (3-4 days worth) al dente (50-65min) and roast them for 30 or so minutes in the oven until just turning crunchy.

I will have to try some one of these days. I have seen recipes for the canned beans and I think the cans are available in my AO. I don't know about the dried beans though.

The problem with canned beans (BPA or other chemicals notwithstanding) is that they have been soaking in the brine or whatever they soak in, and they go nuclear/explode after placed in the over for any length of time.

I made that mistake twice...and spent nearly an hour cleaning the *bazillion* chunks covering the entire inside of the oven. I thought maybe I had a bad can, so tried a different premium brand...with the same results.

Maybe it was just the cans I experimented with, but I won't go near them again.

Even walmart has dehydrated beans in the taco/mexican/noodle aisle. I have 4-5 different types in the pantry more often than not...a staple of vegetarians. :)
