Supper here is a little pasta with sauteed' cabbage, red onions and red bell peppers, bacon, wild caught red shrimp, garnished with fresh big leaf basil, fresh cilantro, scallions, fresh ground black pepper, red pepper flakes and aged parmesan. On the side is the world's sweetest corn on the cob, steamed until barely done.
My basil crop is going nuts and I need to find more ways to use it until I make tomato basil soup (if my tomatoes ever ripen).
We stopped at the Shipwreck Bar & Grill in Jupiter for dinner after work on our way home from Miami.

Tomorrow, shrimp cocktail with home made cocktail sauce and pasta with mussels in oil and garlic.

I've made my own pesto when I have a bumper crop of basil (as I do now), garlic and pine nuts, EVOO. It's a real different taste than the bottled stuff.
I’ve started using walnuts in place of pine nuts. It was initially because I couldn’t find decent pine nuts, but I think I actually prefer the walnuts.
Also, there is a school of thought that frozen basil is better for pesto because freezing ruptures cell walls. Maybe you don’t have to burn through all that basil now.
