had a hot dog and a burger. i did a volunteer gig at the stand down today for the vets in my town bunch of businesses donate all sorts of food and minor medical and dental for the vets that cant afford those things which is a ******* shame. they give out brouchers on how to get extra medical and dental for free and mental help if needed. i was giving out the bags of brouchers but the two ladies doing the grilling needed help so they let me get my cook on. i had a damn good time talking with the vets and serving them up some burger and dogs they had salads as well. danm good guys and gals. it a ******* shame they get get ****ty treatment like they do compared to them son of a *****es on welfare sorry for the language mods but i am saying it how i see it. i really enjoyed helping them out if you guys and ladies can try it someday give it a go.

I love me some homemade tamales!

Side note: I was working at one time in ME with a Canadian traveling nurse. We got to talking about the lack of Mexican food in ME and were talking about good tamales. Staff overheard and were grossed out. To them, they thought we were talking about the green stuff in lobsters!

There is a Mexican food store in town that sells tamales on Saturdays only. The wife bought a bunch of them. They are the best in town. The cheese tamales had some green stuff in them, but it was jalapeno. You would think that with all of the Mexicans and Guatemalans in town, you could buy good, fresh tamales and chili rellenos at a resturant. There is one place on the other side of town with decent chili relleno and their tamales are marginal. I have had excellent tamales that were home made by ladies I used to work with. When I asked a Mexican-American about why the home made tamales were so much better than the ones in restaurants, he said: "Oh, but those are to eat and the others are to sell." (?) I much prefer authentic Mexican to Tex-Mex. I love posole too.
