That's kinda how we are... We went through the stage where we don't buy much of anything for each other through the year, then spent about 2-3k each for Christmas (jewelry, guns/reloading stuff). Then we had more of those things than we could possibly want and it got to be kind of a cop out. Now, we usually take a 7-10k vacation every year, and Christmas is capped at $200 each. We could afford more, but it just doesn't matter to either of us anymore. Range tokens, clothes, Hair/Nail salon gift certificates... Last year I went a little over and bought her a Tablet...

Works for us, but neither of us are materialistic.

How much is a pack of cigarettes? I hear they are very expensive.
Daddy used to smoke a pack a day.

    How thoughtful!

    !
And to whom did the other 3 belong?

    Um, no.

Of course. It will stay between you and me and the internet.

    No sandwich for you.

You better buy the exercise bike first and see if you can handle that.

    Paging @pgg00 .

I hope she doesn't use them on you.

Please let us know how that works out.
    That is, if you survive.

    TMI!

Better have those milkshakes tested for cyanide.

We can never have too much jewelry.

I hope she doesn't use it on you.

    I double-dog dare you.

    And some jewelry.

Why don't you surprise Bonnie and buy her something for Christmas? You don't have to spend a lot.

You mean the ones you give her?

So what is it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, but the trick is to get her something she doesn't know she wants.

We don't exchange Christmas gifts with each other anymore.

We like to buy gifts for folks in nursing homes, many that have no-one and nothing.
    It's a win-win.

We don't buy each other anything, but for fun I will go grocery shopping with her and while we are in the cleaning supplies isle I'll tell her loud enough so other women can here me

"With Christmas coming up why don't you pick out a new mop, get a good one, you deserve it this year"

I get a lot of looks from the other women

I had to choose between a Brothers Sewing Embroidery machine that’s cost 2x more than the Glock 45 I had in my shopping cart on Black Friday. Deleted the Glock and bought the SE1900. I’ll get the Glock next year.

We said no presents this year, just like for the past 45. She has never been able to keep this promise.

I got her a protective case for an iPhone 11 Pro. She doesn’t have one, and it is inexpensive enough to keep me out of trouble.

The cats got her an iPhone 11 Pro with max memory. Boy, are they going to be in trouble...

Why don't you surprise Bonnie and buy her something for Christmas? You don't have to spend a lot.

For years, I asked Bonnie what she wanted as a gift and that's what I got her. Guessing what she wanted seemed foolish so it was better to just ASK and then she got her heart's desire.

We are both in our 70's, have everything that we need, so the only reason we were spending the money was to respond to the Retailer propaganda and hype. That's just nuts especially since we are not in a relationship!

Then you better be careful what you say, or they will need a clean up in the cleaning supplies aisle.

Nope. No jewelry. I have bought her 3 special pieces. She never wears them. First was a couple small Pearls on a lite gold chain. $200. Never wears it. (But she said she wanted it) Even when I ask her to. She "lost it" for 3 yrs. next one the same. But she will wear a cheap necklace.

"Hoagies" is what they call subs in Philadelphia. I learned that from my neighbors. The first time I worked in Philadelphia I didn't know what they were talking about.
We have a cheesesteak place here that calls them "hoagies" too. The owners are from Philadelphia.
