Northern MN, winter camping in a remote cabin in the BWCA. Snowmobiled as far as allowed, ski the rest of the way. All day trip in.

Fresh lake trout for lunch/dinner each day. 4 days stay.

Sigh, that was so serene and stress free. Good food, companionship, and wilderness wonder.

Another couple of times it was white water canoeing in Canada. Float plane about 60 miles up into the bush and then floated back. About 6 of us, camping, paddle paddle paddle, camping and cooking, sleep, paddle paddle paddle....took a week to get back.

I went on several one week summer fishing trips, on remote NW Ontario lakes with my brother-in-law and father-in-law. We ate fried walleye every day.
The wife and I went to Acapulco in the early 90's. The kids stayed with her parents. We had some good food, snorkeled, saw a bullfight, and two charter boat trips trolling for sail fish and dorado.

Hands down, our trip to Washington and Oregon.

Other than spending a day in Portland, OR (a rotten city IMO), the wilds of the Cascades were absolutely amazing. Some of the best hiking I've done in decades. This is a picture I took of Mt. St. Helens:

I'm from Michigan and my favorite spot to visit on a regular basis is Saugatuck, MI. Been vacationing there for over 50 years and it's my place to relax and unwind.

    Most memorable vacations -

    1. My wife and 3 of our kids (before youngest was born) flew into Salt Lake City, then rented a minivan and drove to SW Wyoming (Evanston).
Stayed with my wife's brother and his family for a few days, seeing the local area and boating at Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

We then drove across Wyoming to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore.
Then, back into Wyoming, to Devil's Tower.
On to Little Bighorn Park, in Montana.
Drove across Montana to Red Lodge, Montana.
Drove across Beartooth Pass, into Yellowstone Park.
On to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a few days, then back to Evanston.

Drove back to Salt Lake, to fly home.

Two weeks. Over 3500 miles driven.

    2. Vacation to Destin, Florida, last June.
A solid week, on the beach and eating/drinking like we didn't have a care in the world.
My wife and me. Our youngest daughter and her husband.

Gorgeous weather. Gorgeous beach. Amazing water. Goooooooooood food!

    3. First weekend in October, last year.
Rented two cabins just outside Lancaster, PA, for the whole family.
My wife. Me. All four kids, their spouse(s), and their kids.
    Sitting around the campfire, eating/drinking/relaxing.

    4. Last, but not least, ANYTIME/ANYWHERE I go with my wonderful wife, is nothing short of FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
She's the love of my life, and she is my life!

Over Christmas, I took the wife and daughter to the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana Majestic Mirage. Weather was perfect, golf course was ok, the beach was fantastic, and the food was nice too. All inclusive.

My daughter loved the alcohol free Pina coladas, and I had them add her shot of rum to mine.

We're thinking of trying the Playacar Palace resort next time, near Cancun. I got this tip from a Canadian Tour official (golf rules official for the tour) I met in Punta Cana who said the golf at Playacar is a lot better.

I've been pretty lucky with travel. It's hard to pick a favorite trip... I'm going to go with river boat trip up the Nile with day trips to the major sites. I have TONS of photos but they're all 35mm prints.

One night I couldn't sleep so I went up top and grabbed a reclining deck chair. The staff turned on a flood light pointed at the bank and brought me a couple COLD Heineken. I sipped my beer and watched Egypt go by while listening to "Right Here, Right Now" (There is no other place that I'd rather be.) on my headphones... Kenya and Tanzania were awesome too. Ngorongoro Crater was a blast. Ooh, and Lake Baringo was almost entirely pink with a bazillion flamingos...

On the beach in nags head NC for a week, took a open cockpit airplane ride down the coast with my wonderful love. Many Caribbean islands but my best was in Bora Bora. Went for a morning dip in the ocean, then showered in the open. only Wore a sarong and sandals, beautiful nights. Did some diving, refused to do the shark encounter......Heck I could live there and never regret it. I think there were only 3 French cops on the whole Island. One cab it was a Mercedes.
My second choice was the Mediterranean cruise Started in Italy, Greece, I really liked walking through history. I'm really sorry I missed the Hot gates maybe the next time. Loved Santorini, Would like to stay there for a week, ended up in Rome.

We generally go to Aruba every other year. It’s grown a bit since the first time we went nearly 20 years ago, but we absolutely love it there. Always warm, very very rarely rains, and they are not susceptible to hurricanes.

Ocean temp is 65° right now, way too cold for me even with a wetsuit.

Walleye is delish. I always have it at the Progress Grill when I work in Harrisburg.

Destin is beautiful, especially the white sand.
