    Give me a ****ing break...

My opinion is this is just another effort to keep everyone terrified. Can you imagine? A virus that will withstand handwashing and STILL infect you. That is one bad ass virus. GTFO of here with that ****.

“Wearing masks, washing our hands, all those things are barriers to transmissibility, or contagion, but as the virus becomes more contagious, it statistically is better at getting around those barriers."

What an incredibly disingenuous summation of the article.

There's nothing groundbreaking here... the virus has multiple strains, some of which are more transmissible.

    Read the headline...

Coronavirus mutation emerges that may bypass mask-wearing, hand-washing protections

Translation: Be afraid! Be very very very afraid!

Yes, I read the headline. Then I read the article. I suggest you start doing the same.

Thanks for the laugh! So this virus can now penetrate masks as well? And hand washing is no longer effective? What’s next? An announcement that this virus was brought to earth by space aliens?

    Oh wait......., maybe it was.

    Silly humans.

In case you missed it, I posted an excerpt from the article AFTER READING THE WHOLE THING.

You tell me, what in the world are they trying to convey? Especially considering you said "There is nothing groundbreaking here." If that is the case, why even put this out there? After beating everyone over the head with "Wear a mask, stay home, social distance, etc, etc" to then come out and say that nothing will work to protect you against this "new" strain. Asinine.

Yea, that's not what the article says.

    I know...

it's like no one knows what the hell they're talking about anymore. Today this is good, tomorrow it's bad. This works to protect you. Oh wait, scratch that, that doesn't do anything to portect you. I am getting dizzy with all this back and forth. SMH...

Again... read the article and not just the headline.

The article simply states there is a more contagious strain that is statistically more likely to be transmitted, even with precautions.

That is not saying "nothing you do can protect you" as you are summarizing it.

Think about how incompetent our reaction to a virus with a relatively low mortality rate has been. Now imagine a virus such as H7N9 that’s 100 times deadlier. Imagine how well our government agencies would handle that?

Better prep, you don’t want to be dependent upon any government agency if it’s at all possible.

Its strange, OP seems to have a problem with the click-bait headline, yet is running with his own click-bait summation of the article.

At this point, I don't give a sh**. I'd rather take my chances getting the virus than spending one more god damned waking moment debating if's, and's, or but's about it or wearing a mask.

I think the real worry here is: what are we going to do if the virus goes digital? There seems to be no stopping it!!!

I just consider this a practice run for the next little “surprise”
to emerge from China. Also a good “test” of the government agencies tasked with protecting us.

Hadn’t considered that. Guess I’ll need a good “digital” suit and other appropriate PPE.

When all that’s left is isolation you’d better enjoy the company you keep.
