Are you sure that's a Tango down VFG? Looks like it has the LaRue UDE (Urban Dark Earth) package which comes with the MOE grip, CTR, UDE XTM rail covers, and LaRue FUG. Kind of a greyish color.

Depends what you want to do with it.

Were it me, I'd make a middy. Something like this with whatever flash hider and handguard floats your boat. I don't care much for flip-up front sights unless it's on a low pro AR, but everybody's different. Even with a magnified optic a fixed front doesn't bother me. I figure if I need the iron sights I don't want to have to flip-up the rear and front sights.

I'd order a middy upper from Rock River in the configuration that blows your skirt up.

On my last build, I did something I thought I would never do and that was to build a Dissipator.

I am glad I did. I am very pleased with the results.

A Dissipator has a 16" barrel (profiles can vary) that has a carbine (or mid-length) gas system. The front sight block is utilized to mount full-length handguards (rifle length), thus giving a longer sight radius as well. Mine has a 16" heavy barrel, carbine gas system w/ low profile gas block, YHM folding front sight block, with a KAC M5 RAS.

I just built my upper. I went with a BCM SS140 11.5" barrel, Larue 11" rail (but need to switch to a 10" to add my suppressor), YHM low-pro gas block, YHM stripped upper and a BCM bolt. I have a Troy DOA rear sight and a Troy M4 front sight and an Aimpoint T-1 as well. Love the setup.

You should look into a BCM SS140 or a White Oaks Barrel.

So can i ask what the big deal is with this upper reciever? am i gaining anything by having it? or should i just sell it and get a DD 14.5 or BCM 14.5 upper with perma flash hider?
