Riderless snowmobile travels two miles before crashing By: Forum Communications Co. HANLEY FALLS, Minn. A snowmobile apparently traveled more than two miles, even venturing over two roads, all without a rider after he fell off and was injured, authorities said. According to a news release, a Yellow Medicine County sheriffs deputy on patrol spotted a person lying in a ditch along a county road about 1 a.m. Sunday. It appeared that the individual had been involved in a snowmobile accident, authorities said. The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Granite Falls, Minn. However, authorities didnt find the snowmobile at the scene and it appeared to have taken off after the throttle had frozen wide open after the man had crashed. A couple of local first responders then used snowmobiles to track the missing sled. They found it found 2.5 miles away in a grove of trees. Before getting there, the snowmobile had crossed over two roads before coming to a stop. Authorities say the rider allegedly had been drinking.
