The wife and I go hiking in the mountain areas. I would always go outta my way to get around any snakes, but on occasion you have to do what you have to do. Are there any companies making a "snake shot" round in 10mm?

I haven't ever seen any, but I'd like to find some myself.

I'm not a big fan of using snake shot because it's an unreliable performer. It's easier for me to focus behind the rattler's head and shoot regular ammo, using sights won't work. When you see a rattler on the trail, have your wife visually do a quick check for a second rattler.

I like using the CCI shotshells but they don't seem to be made in 10mm. They make it in pretty much every other popular caliber though. I carry mine in a .45 long colt, not sure how the stuff cycles through a semi auto really.

Better off with a Revolver: .45 Colt or .44 Mag. I have shot quite a few, but the smaller calibers, including the .40 S&W does not work effectively, just pisses 'em off.

I have .41 Magnums. I used a .410 shot wad pressed over 5 grains of pistol powder, filled cae with #9 shot and used a .410 shot card and a heavy roll crimp. Shot a 10 year old rattlers head clean off! Search the web for homemade .44 Mag shotshells to get the general idea. I'd rather have 6 quick than single shots in an auto.

You could make your own, but unless you get upto 44 or 45colt size, there isn't much shot to deliver a lethal hit beyond 3-4 feet. That is just a wee bit close for me & rattlers.

It would be a good excuse to purchase one of the Taurus Judge revolvers! I have been itching to get one just because they are a neat idea.

I was about 12 feet away. Killed two others from 15 feet.

The CCI shotshells in 9mm, .40 and .45ACP shoot just fine and feed 100% out of my Glocks.
