Here's a 6pt FLA deer taken this opening MZL season. This deer was shot at a around 47yrds ( give or take ). He was traveling his typical route when I had to introduce him to a XTP bullet. I've spotted this deer on more than 2 ocassions previous to this day and he was enrouted down the same trail that I've scouted for the last 2years, I was about 100yrds up wind away from him with a steady crosswind blowing W-to-E, hidden in some tall glades grass. I had to wait him out till he stopped to sniff something and he gave me a catering-forward shot. The bullet entered just aft of the right-leg and diagnoally cross the animal, destroying the heart in the proccess. It look like it's heart was dropped in a blender He ran head on straight at me, unaware of my position and I actually had to get off my knee, cuz I was afraid that I was going to get shafted by this deer. He stopped short of my position and try to dart across a fence & died. The deer field dressed out to 100lbs and had a small width rack with one side of his points broken and worn down. Overall I'm satisfied. weapon = T/C Thunderhawk .50cal w/Sightron 2.5-7x scope distance = approx 47yrds weight = field dress @100lbs bullet = .429 240gr XTP in the std black hornady sabot power & ignition = Hodgdon/RS 90gr/ignited via a CCI musketcap My old but faithfull Thunderhawk and provided me alot of vension since I bought it and the best time to get a buck deer down here are during the 1st two archery/mzl seasons.
