So i was looking at buds and noticed the sigmas on sale, which got me back on a kick of wanting a sigma. I have wanted one for several years but was always turned off by the way people talked about the trigger pull. How bad is it? is it just heavy or a lot of creep? The main reason i keep wanting a sigma is because it is one of the best feeling handguns i have ever picked up fits my hand like it was made for it. What do you guys think about them?

Not a bad gun for that price range. If your financial situation allows for it I would just spend a little extra and get an M&P. It will be better quality and more reliable and I think will last you longer. But if those don't fit your hand like you said the sigma does so well then go for it. I have heard a bunch of negative things about them but surprisingly I have heard more good than bad about the sigmas.

From the best I can tell, S&W has long resolved the functionality problems that earned the Sigma its apparently permanent poor reputation. Today they seem to be reliable, durable, no-frills guns with long, heavy, gritty triggers and nice ergos. I believe they're sometimes available with a $50 rebate in addition to its sub-$300 price. There's definitely no better full-size semi-auto in a service caliber in the ~$250 bracket.

My friend Will has one, a Sigma .40, SV40 I think it's called. For a strictly HD weapon, great gun for the price.

If you enjoy long days at the range... not so much. The trigger pull is UNGODLY, for a semi-auto. Feels like a DA revolver trigger, for every shot. If you're accustomed to DAs, you might not be bothered by it. I'm used to semis, I could not get used to that pull. Killed my accuracy past 15 yards.

I had this gun first, before passing it on to Will. Had tons of FTFs, before I realized one of the mags had a manufacturing defect, causing the problem. Tossed that mag, it was fine after that.

That trigger pull can be an advantage if your concerned about carrying with one in the chamber. Also from what I understand you can ship it back to S&W at their cost and they will replace the springs and make the trigger adjustments to bring it down to a more normal manageable pull.

Awwww the trigger ain't all that bad. It's NOWHERE near as bad as the one on my Kel-Tec, P-11. It is very "revolver-like" I guess is a good term, and I'm pretty much a revolver guy so I don't mind it. With a thousand or so dry fires, it either got better or I got used to it. I'm not sure which.

My wife has a Glock 19, and I've got the Sigma. The Glock has a better trigger. The Glock cost twice as much. It should have a better trigger. Other than that, I really can't tell a lot of difference in the two.

Reliable? Once I worked my way through a box of bad reloads (my own), it's been perfect.

The trigger is no worse than a revolver. IGNORE the Sigma haters!!!

I bought one of the Niagra Falls PD trade-ins from Bud's for $269 when they had them and it is a GREAT GUN!!!!!

For the price you can't go wrong....it's a SMITH!!!:wavey:

I think Glock sued Smith and Wesson over the sigmas if I recall correctly. What can I say about a Sigma, I don't care for them. Horrible triggers, feel cheap to me. On the plus side they are accurate for the junk triggers they have in them. I personally would buy a used glock or refurbished one for 100.00 dollars more? Agencies used these handguns because they were to cheap to purchase quality firearms for their officers, lowest bidders always wins in the Military and Law Enforcement arena. Smith usually gives free perks away with the guns, say extra magazines, free armory classes for the officers the agency wants to send, and free parts, buys back the weapons when the agency wants to go to a new firearm, ect.

I think the Sigma is a good value, I had one of the original models that everyone complains about and it worked fine for me. I sold it to a buddy who still owns it to this day, 15 years later, and it's still hiss EDC.

My dad used to have one, an SW9VE. It never had any problems but the trigger was horrible. It's not like a DA revolver trigger. Much more gritty and there's a little bit of creep. He eventually switched out the springs in the trigger and that improved it some. So, they are good, reliable guns but the trigger is ****. For around $100 more, you could get an SD9 or SD40. To me they look like just an updated Sigma with a better trigger.

I couldn't agree more. Too many police trade-in Glock's for about $100 more to have a pistol with such an awful trigger.
For many $100 may as well be $1000 - times are tough and it's only going to get worse until that POS is out of the White House!

They are great guns and they work!
